Arrival day

Arrival Day
  • You will receive your exact check-in instructions two days before the start of your program. You are responsible for getting to your apartment from the airport.
  • If you arrive at the Prague airport, you have a few options:
    • Taxi: Getting from Václav Havel Airport Prague is convenient with Uber, which serves as the official airport taxi provider.
      • TAXI/INFO counter - For the easiest experience, especially after a long journey, head to a TAXI/INFO kiosk. You'll find these at both terminals at Prague Airport. Simply tell the staff where you need to go, and they'll arrange an Uber for you. You'll pay by credit card directly at the counter, and they'll provide you with a ticket and clear instructions on where to find your Uber.
      • Uber App - You can use the same Uber app you use at home. Make sure to order Uber AIRPORT type of car. These vehicles have special permits, allowing them to pick you up directly in front of the Arrivals hall at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Also, This service is specifically designed for airport transfers and has stricter requirements for vehicles and drivers (ample space for passengers and luggage).
        • If you opt for a standard Uber car:
          • Terminal 1: You'll need to cross the street to find your car.
          • Terminal 2: The car can only pick you up on the second floor (Departures hall). You'll need to take an elevator up one floor to meet your driver there.
        • Clearly, Uber AIRPORT offers a much smoother and more convenient experience.
      • Self Service kiosk - Just follow the on-screen instructions, input your destination address, and pay with your credit card. You'll then receive a ticket with all the necessary information about your Uber.
      •
    • Public Transportation: Getting from Václav Havel Airport to the city center is easy with the AE (Airport Express) bus. Think of it as a dedicated, comfortable shuttle service designed specifically to connect the airport with Prague's Main train station (Hlavní nádraží) where your accommodation is located within walking distance.
      • TIP: AE bus is not part of the regular Prague public transport system, so standard city transport tickets are not valid on this bus. You can purchase tickets at the Prague Public Transport (PID) information centers located in the arrival halls of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 or directly from the driver (you can pay by credit card). Ticket cost is 100CZK per person.
      • TIP: The bus runs every 30mins from Terminal 1 (if you flew in to Terminal 2 you will need to walk to Terminal 1 to get to the AE bus stop). Timetable: first bus 5:30AM, last bus at 11:30PM
      • If you do not want to wait for Airport Express bus you can take classic public transportation bus connecting the Airport to metro (subway) stations. Bus 59 will take you to Nádraží Veleslavín (Metro Line A - Green Line). Once you reach this metro station, the efficient Prague Metro system will whisk you quickly to various points in the city center. To get to your accommodation you take the metro from station Nádraží Veleslavín to station Muzeum. In Muzeum you change for line C (red) and go for 1 stop to Hlavní nádraží. You get off at Hlavní nádraží and then it is a 5min walk to your apartment.
        • TIP: You’ll need a ticket that can be purchased at the counter of the Prague Public Transport (PID) information centers directly in the Arrival Lounge at the airport, in the Visitor Centre, or from the ticket machines in the Arrival Lounge of the airport. Ticket cost is 40CZK and the ticket will be valid for 90mins of riding on the public transportation (do not forget to validate the ticket).
  • If you arrive by train to Main Train Station (Hlavní nádraží), your accommodation is located just a 5min walk from the station.
