Packing
  • Packing Considerations
Traveling to Rome means being prepared for cobblestone streets, stylish locals, and varied weather depending on the season.
  • Consider the Season:
Spring (Mar–May): Mild temperatures, occasional rain. Light jacket and layers.
Autumn (Sep–Nov): Warm early fall, cooler and wetter later. Layers and a light sweater.
Winter (Dec–Feb): Cool and damp, not freezing. A coat and a scarf will be enough.

  • Walking Shoes: Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes with good grip are essential for Rome’s uneven cobblestone streets. Stylish sneakers or low boots work well.
  • Casual Clothing: Italians dress smartly even when casual. Avoid gym wear. Opt for jeans, blouses, polos, or linen pants. Light dresses are great in spring
  • Luggage: A carry-on or medium-sized suitcase with durable wheels is ideal. Avoid overpacking, your apartment will have a washing machine, so you can do laundry during your stay.
  • Non-Obvious Things to Pack
    • Respectful Attire: To enter churches and religious sites like St. Peter’s Basilica, you’ll need modest clothing: shoulders and knees covered. A scarf or shawl is handy.
    • Travel Adapter: Italy uses Type C, F, and L plugs (standard European 220V). A universal adapter with voltage conversion is useful if your devices need it.
    • Small Umbrella: Sudden showers are common, and a compact umbrella or packable rain jacket is easy to carry.
    • Medications: Bring any prescriptions in original packaging. Include a copy of your prescription and a basic first-aid kit (pain relievers, motion sickness tablets, plasters, etc.).
