About Stefanie
Stefanie is a first generation Croatian-American. She was born and raised in California and moved to Croatia in 2016 with her family. She has four children and is happily married to Mateo for 23 years. She is a self-taught baker of traditional Croatian desserts. She loves meeting new people and helping others. She loves the Croatian culture and lifestyle and is truly excited to share all she has experienced to make everyone's experience in Croatia a most memorable experience.
About Mateo
First and foremost, Mateo has been happily married to Stefanie for 23 years. Together, they have 4 wonderful children from 5 to 21 years of age.
Born and raised in Croatia, he became a professional water polo player at age of 16, and accepted a full scholarship to USC (University Of Southern California).
He returned back home to Split in 2016, this time with his wife and children. He has been in the travel and boating industry for 18 years.
Mateo is a very passionate and caring person who simply loves to make people happy and see them smile. He is as content as one can be and can not imagine living anywhere else in the world but here in Split, Croatia. Mateo feels blessed to be part of this unique top quality program and can not wait to share love, enthusiasm and devotion for his hometown with each TGLA traveller.

Hours of Availability & Emergencies
- Our Community Managers are there to support your experience. They will be physically present at community events, and that is a great time to talk to them.
- Outside of community events, Community Managers are available via Whatsapp from 9am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. As they have families and other obligations, we ask that you respect these hours for regular messages.
- Emergencies
- In the event of an emergency, you may call or text the Community Manager at any time via Whatsapp.
